Getting Past the Hate - Westboro Baptist Church Apr. 10th, 2007 @ 12:23 pm
(if this is too long, just watch the video below & the others in the series)

If the bible could be summed up into 2 'rules' it would be to love the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul, & strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. I could tell everyone that I have love for everyone and that I don't hate, but that would be a lie. As much as I wouldn't admit it (even to myself) I have hated Westboro Baptist Church. This is the church that makes the picket signs saying God hates America, Jews, Fags, basically everything and everyone. If you asked me, I would say I don't hate them, I don't like them, but don't hate them. This would be incorrect, not that I would be purposely lying, but I have now found that I truly did hate them.

After watching the video below (along with the other 6 in the series, 7 total) I tried to truly understand them. Although I will never be at that point, these videos really opened my mind as to why they think the way they do, why they say certain things and why they're 'beyond reason.'

The quickest way is saying "they've been brainwashed." The journalist said it best "They're message of hate to the world makes the world hate them, thereby further enforcing their thinking that they're doing God's will." By the last video, he had some amazing points and finally, I believe they truly heard him, but they quickly tried to find a way out by reciting the same thing they've said all along.

The sad part is, they live sad lives. I'm not just saying sad as in, what they're doing, I'm saying they won't feel love from anyone outside of their church. Unfortunately they've come to accept that, but they become obsessed with only pursuing their message of hate.

By the last video, I found that I no longer hated them, but truly pitied them. Just yesterday I would have said the same, but today it's blatenly true in my heart. If I were to drive past a picket of them while a funeral was going on, I don't know how I'd react...probably not the way I should. So hate may still be lingering in there, but I'm aware of it and I pity them more now then ever before. The only optimistic view I have is that no one is beyond God's reach.

Please view this video and the other 6. the 7th one is truly the best.

PS3 or Car Repairs? Choices, Choices

first of all, you should be reading my live journal, cause I actually update that.  it's www.livejournal.com/users/themaster408

ok, so we weren't going to get a PS3, the subject is just to illustrate what's going on. So, my car has been making weird noises for a while now, and I recently noticed it turning VERY weirdly. Found out my axle was on the verge of "breaking" (or whatever it is they do when they're worn out). So, gotta get that fixed, I got 2 different guys (so I know this guy isn't jipping me, besides, I've heard like 4 car guys all refer me to this place saying that he'll give me a good deal, he wont cheat me) saying that my tires were bad and probably would have blown soon (they showed me the tire up close and yes...it was VERY bad. The steel was poking out of the tire in the back. So, he was saying that my tires needed realianment real bad, probably what killed the axle, so I'm like *sigh* ok, let's do that. $350 for axle & alignment + $120 for 2 tires = $470. So guess what? apparantly my ball joint is bad and realignment is pointless without replacing that. He said basically it would just get unaligned right back and waist the money on all of this (except tires of course). So, the grand total or tires, axle, alignment, and ball joint...

$600! the same as a PS3. Just in time for the holiday season and right after I completely paid off my credit card (that's right, I finally paid off those airplane tickets from my honneymoon / paid for stuff when I had no money right after getting married). Yay, now I'm broke.

However, if I hadn't repaired it...I don't even want to think about how much it woulda been!

Where's the Love, where's the Update? Sep. 30th, 2006 @ 03:22 pm
Absolutely nothing important has happened in the last several weeks. Nothing at all. Board, that's about it.

Last night had a fun movie night with Jaron/Rachel, David/Laura, Me/Becky, Holly & Jenndy (sp?). we saw "Mitchelle" a GREAT MST3K. oh, it was great. It had the best 25 mph car chase scene I've ever seen and perhaps the best country music sex scene ever too. no sarcasm in my voice.

Gotta go back to work in an hour...

Enrollment & the DC Aug. 29th, 2006 @ 10:48 am
I'm sure several people will have this subject line. Well, bet none of them said "yeah, I couldn't go through enrollment cause I hadn't done my Fasfa and I hadn't done that because I hadn't done my taxes!"

well, long story short, one of my previous employers didn't send me my W-2, so I had to do all that crap. Then just...never had time (wanted to do it with my mom cause I don't understand the stuff, it actually wasn't as complicated as I feared). anywho, so hopefully today I can do it.

Got a job at the DC now, so does Becky so that's good. umm...guess that's it for now...

i will use "current location" as "currently reading"
